"Fireproof" Your Marriage
I HEART the movie "Fireproof." Sure, maybe it has some cheesy acting, but I so appreciate the MESSAGE about saving your marriage. It's a Christian-based movie just fyi. I CRY every time I watch this and it INSPIRES me as a wife.
I've been thinking about recent comments from other wives about how hard it is when the effort and the showing of love is all ONE-SIDED. This movie speaks to you and to all of us who desire to strengthen our marriages.
* I'd love to hear if you get a chance to watch it.

we love this movie! have you seen courageous? it's in redbox, and it is made by the same people - incredible movie. you should see it!
ReplyDeleteI have been married for a little over two years. Not long in most people's book. But...let me tell you, we have had some major struggles. We are both God fearing people, which is honestly the only reason we are still married. Don't get me wrong. I love my husband and I know he loves me, but in the past he has been so hateful that I it caused me to wonder how could he REALLY love me if he treats me this way. What was scary is he never saw what he was doing. He just saw that he was expressing his emotions "in a passionate way". And to be totally fair, this is how he was raised. But it just about tore our marriage apart. But one day, I was at home watching Fireproof. I had seen it many times before as it was one of my good friend's favorite movies. But my husband and never seen it. I think it was the yelling that got his attention when he walked in the room. He sat down on the bed and started watching it. It was at that moment that he saw what he had been doing to me. It was his "ah ha" moment.
ReplyDeleteI second April's suggestion for Courageous. While it is geared more towards fathers' relationships with children, it is also very powerful and very worthy of seeing. The black fireman in fireproof that played a lead role is also in this movie. The acting is also better than in Fireproof. :)
Is Fireproof in Redbox?
ReplyDeleteFireproof is older so it's not at Redbox. I heard you could buy it at a Lifeway Christian Store (one in Salt Lake), or you should be able to rent it at a movie store. Courageous is at Redbox is about fathers and sons I think.
