Why I Write

And here's what first inspired me to begin this BusyBliss blog:

Steve and I (Mindy) have been married 7 years and have 4 littles, which means we are full of so much happiness and craziness all at the same time!  I graduated from BYU in Marriage, Family, and Human Development years ago.  Steve is finishing up dental school.

I've always dreamed of being a mother. With all my imaginations and hopes, I never thought the reality would be this CRAZY! You know... some days are long and hard. Feeling like a walking zombie, having various objects chucked from the back seat, loosing patience... daily... multiple times a day, smelling the pile of dirty diapers, cleaning up to only have a complete explosion the next minute, scarcely found personal time, facing monotony from time to time, oh the phases of bitting and hitting, figuring out how to get your child to eat and sleep, feeling so ready to quickly and finally put the kids to bed after a long day, spending way too long on meals that turn out inedible :)...

I also didn't know that being a wife and mother could be this beautiful. Family life truly contains life's greatest joys.  Many moments I am filled with inexpressible happiness....  When my little boy says "JeJe" for the first time while looking at a picture of Jesus. Hearing my baby's heartbeat, cuddling with my newborn babe, laughing with my hubby - my very best friend, staring in awe each night at our sleeping children as we cover them with blankets, rolling down grassy hills laughing hysterically with my littles, realizing my little boy's incredible gifts and watching my little girl's beaming smile with her dimples and scrunched-up nose. Those times when I begin to tear up realizing how fast they grow up so I get down on all fours and play cars to live fully in the moment.  Some moments seem magical, even in the midst of motherly mayhem.

I think it's the hard, as well as the fun times, that makes it so worthwhile. Nothing has brought be more to my knees or taught me more of my need for growth and my Savior than being a wife and mother.  And, nothing has filled me with more JOY than the moments found in family life.
I'll never forget the beautiful and special feeling in that room as I dressed my baby girl in her white blessing dress.

Motherhood is my PASSION and I want this blog to be a place where I can store all my dreams and the amazing ideas I have gleaned from many other mothers, books, and friends. Networking with other moms is so essential because we can learn so much for each other and also feel comforted that we are not alone through all this craziness!  My hope is that this blog can be a place for me and you to get re-inspired do incredible and fun things as we raise our families. I hope this collection of practical ideas will help remind us all of our dreams and ambitions ... and to begin to implement them little by little. We have the power in us to become incredible, intentional mothers each with our own strengths and talents - mothers who know that life is insanely crazy but also incredibly beautiful. This truly is the greatest, most important work we will ever do.  Thanks for visiting and I would LOVE to here your comments so we can all learn together!

  1. That is a phrase I need to post and see every day, "Intentional mother". In the mayhem and craziness I often get overwhelmed and forget that I chose this for a reason and I do love it more than anything! Thanks for reminding me!

  2. Mindy,
Sorry to contact you through a comment, but I couldn't find your contact information. My sister and I have started a website for Mom's to share information. Mothers in return earn the revenue from the advertising earnings that exist on their article for the life of www.amomknows.com. First, I really enjoy your blog and have two requests:

    1. Add us as a link on your website or mention us in a blog. We are trying to provide an easy way for moms to share the knowledge they already have about their passions, interests, or whatever. More information can be found at http://www.amomknows.com or at http://www.amomknows.com/want-to-write/.

    2. An offer for you to write for us. I would personally love it if you would write for us. You can find out more at the same link as above:

    Thanks,

  13. I enjoyed reading your potty training experience. I am going to start my son next week using the same method! Wish me luck! I was glad to see you are LDS! I am too and live in Rochester, NY!
    Great blog!

  14. Oh Meagan you can totally do this!! Unless you have 2 other little kids/babies at home! jk... I attempted twice with Hailey but it's just too crazy when I've got the other littles to tend. I think I'll just have to wait until my hubs can take them for a day so I can focus on just her. Seriously, I am such a believer in that method. I'm really excited for you it's such a huge step. And Rochester?! That's by Hill Cumorah right?! I was in the Pageant back in the day :). Wishing you the best
